Exteriors

As an architecturally certified color consultant, I work with a variety of clients: realtors, painters, HOAs and homeowners. Much of my work involves bringing color into the interior of my clients’ homes. Exteriors, however, are a large part of my portfolio. For exterior consultations, I follow a few consistent steps when specifying color. I look at the defining architectural features, like brick or stone on the body; I consider the style of the house, the color of the roof and the color of the houses that surround the home. My overall aim is to enhance curb appeal and to highlight the strengths of each house.
Where my processes diverge, is that when working with realtors, I am specifying color to appeal to a large swath of people. While I want to remain true to what each home “wants”, my goal is to bring in colors that invite people to imagine themselves in this home. My second goal is to help people become more comfortable with color. While often a neutral is the best choice for an exterior, there are times, as you’ll see in these photos, that a home shines with a clean bright color.
